Youth Summit on Biodiversity

The major event for Congolese youth committed to nature: learning, debating, sharing and putting forward ideas, together.
The spirit of the Summit

A space where young people aren’t asked to listen, but to speak, to suggest and to be built.

The first edition

In May 2023, GYBN DRC organised the following event in Kinshasa: First Youth Summit on Biodiversity, with the support of GIZ.

A few months after the adoption of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, young people were able to gain a better understanding of this new framework, engage with experts and organisations, and reflect on their role in its implementation in the DRC.

This edition has confirmed one conviction: Congolese youth are ready to take their place in biodiversity governance.

Our 2026–2031 Strategic Plan provides for a National Summit every two years, bringing together delegates from the 26 provinces.

Objective: to coordinate young people’s contributions to the implementation of the SPANB 2025–2030 and the Global Framework, and to train the next generation of environmental leaders.

The next edition is in the pipeline. Follow us on social media to be the first to know.
