Our work · Advocacy

Our voice counts where decisions are made.

From national consultations to the United Nations COPs, GYBN DRC champions the ideas, expectations and solutions of Congolese youth regarding biodiversity.
Why it’s important

More than 65 % Many Congolese are young. They are the ones who will live the longest with the choices made today regarding our forests, our rivers and our species. They must have a say.

Where we operate

Three levels, one voice

In the DRC

National policies

SPANB 2025–2030, the National Forestry Policy, climate policies: we are putting forward young people’s proposals in public consultations.
Around the world

International negotiations

CBD, UNFCCC, UNCCD: our delegates prepare and champion the views of young people at the COPs.
In the territories

Kivu–Kinshasa Green Corridor

We are calling for young people and local communities to be at the heart of this ecological connectivity initiative.

At international level

From Kinshasa to Montreal: Congolese youth at the negotiating table

As the national chapter of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network – the only youth body officially recognised by the Convention on Biological Diversity – GYBN DRC connects young Congolese people to the forums where the future of the planet is being negotiated.

Our delegates were at the CBD COP15 in Montreal, at the adoption of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and at the UNFCCC COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Before each COP, we prepare our delegates, develop common positions and produce briefing notes.
