Hosting and technical services

The website is hosted by LWS (Web Services Line), a web hosting provider based in France (www.lws.fr). It also benefits from the services of Cloudflare for security, protection against misuse and faster page loading.

The texts, photographs, logos, documents and graphic elements on this website are the property of GYBN DRC or its partners, unless otherwise stated. Any reproduction, in whole or in part, without prior written authorisation is prohibited. Content may be quoted or shared for non-commercial purposes, provided that the source is clearly cited («GYBN DRC – drc-gybn.org»).

The Global Youth Biodiversity Network logo and our partners’ trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

Liability

GYBN DRC endeavours to publish accurate and up-to-date information, but cannot guarantee that it is free from errors or omissions. Links to external websites are provided for information purposes only: we are not responsible for their content.

2. Privacy Policy

GYBN DRC respects your privacy. We only collect the data necessary for our activities; we never sell it and we do not use it for advertising purposes.

What data do we collect, and why?

• Newsletter : your name and email address, when you sign up, so that we can send you our news. Sign-ups are managed via the service Mailchimp.
• Contact and membership forms : the information you provide (name, email address, message, region, etc.), in order to respond to your enquiry or process your membership of the network.
• Emails you send to us : your address and the content of your message, so that we can reply to you.
• Technical specifications : IP address, browser type and connection data, which are processed automatically by our hosting provider and by Cloudflare to ensure the security and proper functioning of the website.

The website does not use any advertising audience measurement tools or social media tracking pixels.

Basis for the processing

We process your data on the basis of your consent (subscribing to the newsletter, submitting a form) or our legitimate interest to ensure the security of the site and to respond to people who contact us.

Recipients and transfers

Your data is used solely by the GYBN DRC team. It may be hosted or processed by our technical service providers (LWS in France, Cloudflare and Mailchimp, some of whose servers are located outside the DRC, notably in Europe and the United States), to the extent strictly necessary for the provision of the service.

Shelf life

• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, which you can do at any time using the link provided in every email.
• Messages and contact enquiries: for the time required to process the enquiry, and for a maximum of 3 years.
• Membership details: for the duration of your membership, and for a further three years after you leave the network.

Your rights

You may at any time request access to your data, have it corrected or deleted, object to its processing, or withdraw your consent. Simply write to [email protected]. We will reply within one month.

These commitments are in line with Congolese legislation governing the protection of personal data and, for our European visitors, with the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

3. Cookies and third-party services

A cookie is a small file stored on your device when you visit a website. The drc-gybn.org website uses technical cookies only, which are necessary for the website to function and to ensure its security. They are not used for advertising or to track your browsing activity.

• Cloudflare security cookies : they help to distinguish human visitors from malicious bots and protect the website from abuse.
• WordPress cookies : these apply only to site administrators when they log in to manage the site.
• Language selection : if you click on «EN», a «googtrans» cookie will remember your choice and the page will be translated automatically by the service Google Translate, which then receives the page content and your IP address. This cookie is deleted when you switch back to French («FR»).
• Display preferences : certain elements of the website may store simple display preferences locally, without identifying you.

To ensure the website displays correctly, certain resources are loaded from external services, including fonts Google Fonts and, if you choose English, Google Translate. These services may receive your IP address when the page loads.

As these cookies are strictly necessary, they do not require prior consent. You can, however, block or delete them via your browser settings; some features, such as forms, may then no longer work properly.

If we ever add audience measurement tools or embedded content that sets further cookies, this page will be updated and your consent will be sought where required by law.

Purpose of the website

The website showcases the activities, initiatives, publications and resources of the Congolese Youth Biodiversity Network, the national chapter of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Use of content

The content is provided for information, educational and awareness-raising purposes. It may be shared for non-commercial purposes, provided that GYBN DRC is cited as the source. Any other use requires our written consent.

User behaviour

You undertake not to use our forms to submit content that is unlawful, offensive, misleading or infringes the rights of others, and not to disrupt the operation of the website.

Changes in conditions

GYBN DRC may amend this information at any time. The current version is the one published on this page, together with its update date.
