Strategic Plan 2026–2031

Six key areas, thirty priority actions and measurable targets to make Congolese youth an active force in biodiversity conservation and governance.
A coordinated plan

Our plan forms part of the DRC’s SPANB 2025–2030, the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the Kivu–Kinshasa Green Corridor.

Six strategic priorities

What we’re going to do between now and 2031

Each priority area is broken down into priority actions, with indicators to measure our progress.

Priority Area 1 · Mobilisation

Focal points in the 26 provinces, pilot offices, national campaigns against deforestation and local conservation caravans.

Priority Area 2 · Capacities and leadership

Accredited training courses, intergenerational mentoring, a national summit held every two years, and a programme to promote the inclusion of Indigenous young people.

Priority Area 3 · Advocacy and participation

A youth advisory group, a COP negotiation task force, position papers and a SPANB youth observatory.

Priority Area 4 · Communication and visibility

A web portal, a biodiversity web radio station, a species identification app and a network of media partners.

Priority Area 5 · Research and early-career researchers

Ecology boot camps, a national young researcher award, scientific mentoring and an open-access database called «BioJeunes-RDC».

Priority 6 · Partnerships and resources

Memoranda of understanding with government departments, academic partnerships, co-funded consortia and a partners’ round table.

Monitoring and accountability

A plan that is monitored, evaluated and transparent

The plan is based on a monitoring framework for 45 indicators. A mid-term review is scheduled for 2028 and a final assessment in 2030.

  • ✓An indicative budget of approximately 1.2 million US dollars over five years.
  • ✓The aim is to have five co-funded multi-stakeholder projects in place by 2031.
  • ✓Partnerships formalised through memoranda of understanding.
  • ✓Results shared publicly with our members and partners.

Let’s build 2031 together

Institutions, technical and financial partners, universities, the media: every action in this plan opens the door to collaboration.
